Merrell Trainers Gear Review

By Steve C / Worksop

The Intercept is a brand new multi-sport trainer from Merrell, the creators of such successful shoe ranges as the Chameleon and Continuum ranges. Primarily a walking trainer, the Merrell Intercept benefits from several unique and innovative features that enable it to become a multi-purpose shoe that will adapt to varying walking conditions with ease.

What sets the Intercept apart from its cousins within the Chameleon and Continuum ranges at Merrell is the true versatility it possesses. While it may look like a walking shoe with a degree of artistic thought given to it in terms of how it looks, it incorporates such features as a sticky rubber Vibram sole and an Air Cushion midsole to ensure that you can pick up your pace a little, perhaps even turn your walk into a hike, this Merrell shoe will not be hampered by the change in conditions.

The Merrell Intercept, although being versatile and diverse, does not detract any quality from its original purpose as a pair of shoes. The breathable upper of this trainer ensures that you can stay out on your walk for longer than you could in a normal trainer without your feet sweating in the heat. In complement to this, the tongue of the Intercept is also breathable. Also, the Ortholite foot bed included provides your feet with a unique support that helps them to move as naturally as they possibly can. This effect can help with issues of posture or lower body muscular complaints.

I’ve been wearing Merrell trainers for years, and find the Merrell Intercept ideal for those of you who require a lightweight shoe that you can quite happily take on a long stroll at your leisure. I used to wear Salomon trainers, but tend to find the Merrell ones a little more ‘value for money’. Its construction allows its wearer the freedom of choice, and this can be a valuable asset when deciding on a pair of trainers.
