Profile on Dave Wright

Ski hardware buyer & Manager Peterborough Store

Dave first got involved with skiing some 31 years ago whilst working for his father’s sports business.

Both Dave and his wife Maggie shared a love and passion for skiing and when Dave’s father retired Dave and Maggie started their own specialist ski business called Wrights Ski Chalet. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since then but over the years Dave has been very fortunate to have skied all over Europe, America and Canada.

"I like to think of myself as a confident piste skier but would still like to ski better in bumps and powder. I guess now I’m the wrong side of 40 to push myself too far out of my comfort zone. One of my biggest regrets was that I never spent a full season on snow because that is a sure way to reach your peak"

Over the years that Dave has been involved in the ski industry he has seen many changes and a host of new developments in ski and boot technology, he has collected numerous technical certificates after completing specialist supplier training on each season’s new range of product.

With this amount of knowledge gained over these years Dave can give expert help and advice to all target groups of skiers and has always taken much pride in matching the right ski or boot to customer’s requirements. Two Seasons training is still run in association with suppliers but Dave also takes an active part in visiting all of our ski stores to support this training and also to give them the benefit of his own experiences and best practices.

A particular area of interest has been with foot analysis and problems related to foot morphology. Many of us have foot problems that we do not recognise or even are aware of. When the foot is in a ski boot or snowboard boot it is not in a natural environment so there are lots of inherent problems that can occur. Dave has worked with some of the industry’s sport podiatry clinics training with specialists in this field and is able to find solutions that will help with many common foot problems, in particular the building and recommending of supportive foot beds (Orthotics) in both ski and snowboard boots, and the modification of boots by stretching or customising the shell to adapt to any irregularities of the foot shape inside.

Dave has been involved with Two Seasons for nearly two years now after his own business joined the Two Season’s empire which is growing at an impressive rate year on year.

"I love my job and enjoy testing and selecting new and exciting products as well as getting on the shop floor with all the teams and building their knowledge and confidence with on going technical training so that they are able to offer the best advice and service to our customers"

When the ski season ends and we slip into summer mode he gets the mountain bike out and tries to keep his fitness levels up to speed searching out some intrepid routes wherever he can. This is sometimes difficult to maintain with his love of the odd pint or two!

Dave is available to help if you have a technical question or feedback on any of our products this season just email your question and he will get back to you with an answer.
