The Two Seasons Bikini Guide: What fit are you?
Small Bust
- Style – Bandeau and triangle bikini tops are reserved only for small boobs. Go for thin spaghetti straps to give the illusion of width. Padded bikini cups and underwiring will help to boost your bust. Tie front bikinis can also help to create cleavage. Gathers, frills or beading on the bikini top will create shape and curves. Go for separates where you can chose your top and bottom sizes separately for a perfect fit.
- Colour/Print – Small prints on top will create the illusion of a bigger bust. Horizontal or diagonal stripes on top will also widen your bust, so get on board with the nautical trend. Buy reversible bikinis or separates that allow you to wear a bright colour on top and a dark colour on the bottom to balance out your body. Lighter and brighter colours will add volume, so reserve these for your top half only.

Big Bust
- Style – Go for underwired tops with structured cups to give extra support. Styles with thick bands under the bust will give you some lift and wider neck straps will be more comfortable than spaghetti styles. Avoid bandeau and triangle tops which don’t offer any support. Make sure to buy separates where you can chose the top and bottom sizes separately. Tops that tie around the back and neck will also allow for the perfect fit. Avoid any frills or detailing on the top that will emphasise your bust; save these for your bottom half to balance out your proportions. Wearing boy shorts or low leg pants will create the same effect.
- Colour/Print – Chose reversible bikinis or separates and wear a dark, block colour on top and a bright colour or pattern on the bottom to keep the emphasis away from your top half and keep your body in proportion. Avoid horizontal stripes on top; go for big prints with a dark background which will make your bust look smaller.

Petite
- Style – Chose high cut briefs to make your legs look longer. A solid, one piece suit with a plunging neckline will lengthen your body by creating a long, continuous silhouette. Avoid boy shorts or skirted bikinis which draw the eye downward and make you look shorter.
- Colour/Print – Wear a pant with a solid colour and a top with a pattern or detailing on to draw the eye upwards and make your body look longer. Stick to small prints and delicate detailing that won’t swamp your body.

Tall
- Style – Stick to bikinis, instead of tankinis or swimsuits, as these will help to break up your long torso. Low cut pants or boy shorts will make your legs look shorter and more in proportion.
- Colour/Print – Horizontal stripes will widen your body and help to add curves. Avoid vertical stripes, high necklines and dark, solid colours. Embellishment, ties or bows around the hip and bust area will help to add interest as well as shape to your body.

Boyish/No Waist
- Style – Bikinis with frills, ruches or ties at the sides will help to add curves to your body. The main aim is to widen your hips, so boy shorts or skirted bikinis are a perfect choice. Bikini bottoms with a thick band or a belt will also add the illusion or curvaceous hips. Plunging V-necks and halter necks will add cleavage and curves to your top half, as will any bikini tops with gathering or embellishment on.
- Colour/Print – Horizontal stripes will widen your hips and bust to create an hourglass shape. Avoid solid coloured bikinis.

Curvy
- Style - Avoid the trap of boy shorts; too much fabric will make your bum look bigger, so lengthen your thigh with high cut bikini bottoms. High-waisted bikini bottoms with a thick band may also help to cover up your midriff. Avoid ruffles or frills on the hips or bust, a sleek silhouette is more slimming. Tankinis are a perfect alternative to the bikini; the freedom of a two piece, whist covering up any wobbly bits.
- Colour/Print – Dark or strong colours, like black or orange, are slimming; pale shades (especially white) are not. Big prints with a dark background also make you look slimmer, along with the age-old vertical stripes. Avoid neon or textured fabric.
